"It's not that we don't care,
We just know that the fight ain't fair.
So we keep on waiting (waiting),
Waiting on the world to change."
- John Mayer, "Waiting on The World To Change"

I think we all know that our country, the Philippines, is stagnant in terms of progress. Yeah, there's reports here and there about the Peso strengthening as well as an increase in our economy due to our OFW's remittances. But then how come prices are still increasing? Shouldn't they have decreased, even just a bit? We're in a sort of deadlock with ourselves. And I think this one example perfectly exemplifies the state our country is in: Every single progress we make is offset by two more setbacks, and the driving force behind this never ending cycle is none other than...the citizens of the Republic of the Philippines.

Yes, unfortunately, we're responsible for what has become of our country. How? It's as simple as turning a blind eye to what's really happening in our country. It's as simple as being easily suckered in by the false promises by wily politicians whose idea of government is self-enrichment. It's as simple as refusing to see that our country is worth fighting for.

But then again, I can't blame ourselves for being this way. We are a nation governed by a tight-knit & like-minded group of bureaucrats and snakes whose idea of government is milking every last centavo they can out of our nation. There are those who are honest & do what is good, but they are few and far between, and eventually they will be corrupted because our government system forces everyone in it to be corrupt as well. Almost anyone in government who's tried to make a change has been met with violent opposition and propaganda.

John Mayer couldn't have said it any better in his song "Waiting on the World to Change" when he said, "It's not that we don't care, we just know that the fight ain't fair." It's not that we don't care at all about our nation's welfare, it's just that any attempts we make to help change it are met with heavy resistance by hard-headed politicians.

The worst part of it is, the people who can make a difference don't do much at all particularly because they don't feel the effects of it as much as the guy in this photo. These are the people who, every single day of their lives, feel the pressure of rising prices and a bureaucratic government. These are the people who are suffering for their nonchalance & arrogance.

I just pray that we don't lose hope.

What a beautiful portait.
I am amased this wasn't eatn up like crazy.
It's beautiful and truthfully exsposes the real side of society.
And we do, keep waiting on the world to change.
This picture speaks for itself.
Beautifully done.
